Good news bringing its way to India, as airline starts cheapest flights from Delhi to New york via Iceland.
Skuli Mogensen, founder and CEO of Wow Air, announced the launch at a press conference of Wow Air. The Iceland-based airline will introduce a new base fare of INR 13,499 to foreign destinations via Reykjavik. The airline also says that it will offer an introductory basic fare of INR 13,499 to the Keflavik airport in Iceland’s capital. These services are slated to start from December this year.
This is Wow Air’s official entry into the Indian market. They plan to have five direct flights a week between New Delhi and Keflavik airport which will then connect to multiple destinations in North America and Europe. The one-way fair under the Wow basic includes all taxes, but excludes meal and check in baggage, which will be charged separately.
Skuli mentions that while Wow basic’s introductory fare will be priced at INR 13,499 with taxes, the Wow Premium or Business Class fares will be priced from INR 46,599 onwards including taxes. The other two fare options are Wow Plus and Wow Comfy, the prices of which are uncertain at this point.
The launch of Wow in India also overlaps with efforts of the union and state governments to make air travel more affordable and accessible to all.
The CEO aims to add more flights to India as the country strongly moves ahead to become the world’s third largest tourism economy in the next ten years.
