Both Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have issued statements, requesting the media to not share the images
Being a celebrity in India can be tough, and being a celebrity kid can be tougher. Just look at the media frenzy behind Taimur Ali Khan to know what we’re talking about. Similarly, yesterday pictures of Vamika Kohli, daughter of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma went viral. And now, the couple have released a statement about the incident:
The incident occurred during India’s match against South Africa, in Cape Town. The former skipper reached the 50 runs mark on the scoreboard and whipped out a ‘cradle’ celebration dedicating it to Sharma and their daughter. Unbeknown to the couple, the official broadcaster panned the camera to the stand, showing the mother and daughter celebrating.
The couple has been very protective of 1-year old Vamika’s privacy, making multiple requests to paparazzi and media, over the last year, saying, “We seek privacy for our child and would like to do our best to give her a chance to live her life freely away from media and social media. As she is older, we cannot restrict her movement and hence your support is needed so kindly practice (refrain) in the matter. A special thank you to fan clubs and people on the internet for going out of your way to not post images. It was kind and highly mature of you.”
Considering their newborn daughter was subjected to rape threats back in November, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the couple is being protective of Vamika’s privacy.
