American YouTuber and singer Vidya Vox is in India currently and shared her thoughts on the #MeToo movement in an exclusive chat with MW. “The people who have publicly shared their #MeToo stories are truly courageous, doing so at great professional and personal risk. As a victim of sexual harassment and assault myself, I feel empowered and encouraged by their voices,” she said.
“The #MeToo movement is a step in the right direction, shedding light on a battle that women have been waging, too often alone and unrecognized, for a very long time. Women are powerful and equal. It’s time that legislation and our collective consciousness reflects this reality. In such a world, all of us, both men and women, can safely pursue our dreams and live our best lives,” the songstress added.
The popular YouTuber is a youth icon and hugely influential in her field. Her mashup videos aim to bring the best of the East and the West together with her “Closer/Kabira” video having hit around 55 million views in a mere seven months.
