Ubers Move To The Sea: UberBOAT Will Provide Speedboat Services In Mumbai

Uber users can avail these services from February 1

Food, Sleep and Ubers. These are the three primary needs of any 21st century urban dweller. After conquering land with food and taxi services, Uber plans to head into deeper waters.

According to a report by NDTV, Uber will now also provide boat services around Mumbai. Working along with the Maharashtra Maritime Board, UberBOAT will cover the already existing ferry routes and will send speedboats connecting Gateway of India to the Elephanta Islands and Mandwa Jetty, which connects Alibaug to Mumbai.

Users will have two fare options:

1.) Rs 5,700 for an UberBOAT which can accommodate 6-8 passengers

2.) Rs 9,500 for an UberBOAT XL which can accommodate 10+ passengers

The service will be available to Uber users from February 1.

Sanjay Bhatia, Chairman of the Bombay Port Trust,  told NDTV, “Our vision is to make Mumbai as the sea transport and tourism hub of the country in collaboration with Maharashtra Maritime Board. It is a pleasure to launch UberBOAT in Mumbai, a step to make the waterway commute more efficient and convenient. As we continue to reimagine the waterways of Mumbai through a host of ambitious projects and partnerships, we believe UberBOAT will play a pivotal role in improving connectivity and will work closely with Uber to make this pilot a success”.

Looks like Uber is on a path of world domination. They’ve already conquered land and sea, so can we now expect Uber flights soon?
