The managing director at T-series, Bhushan Kumar, has been accused of rape.
The son of the ‘Cassette King’ and founder of T-series, Gulshan Kumar, has been accused of rape by a 30-year-old woman. She alleges being exploited by Kumar on the pretence of including her in some projects at his company in exchange for sexual favours.
The 30-year-old Andheri resident who claims to have known Kumar since September 2017, alleged that she was sexually assaulted from October 2017 until last year. She further claims that Kumar shot a compromising video that he threatened to leak if she were to take action, and that threat had made her hold back from filing a complaint thus far.

The offence has been registered at DN Nagar police station in Andheri (West).
“We have registered a case under sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code,” said Milind Kurde, senior police inspector of DN Nagar police station.
Kumar retaliated with an accusation of extortion against the complainant. In a statement made by the company, T-Series said the woman had solicited Kumar’s help to fund a web series that she wanted to produce back in March, a request “which was politely refused”.
“Thereafter, in June 2021 after the lifting of lockdown in Maharashtra, she started approaching T-Series banner in collusion with her accomplice demanding huge sum of money as extortion amount,” said the statement.
Furthermore, Kumar’s team states that the woman has already worked for the T-Series banner in Film and music videos.
“The complaint filed against Mr Bhushan Kumar is completely false and malicious and the contents of the same are denied,” said the statement. “It has been falsely alleged that the lady in question was sexually exploited between 2017 to 2020 on the pretext of giving her work.”
Prior to this, an unidentified woman had accused Kumar of seeking sexual favours in exchange for a three-movie contract. During the #MeeToo movement, the woman alleged on Twitter that Kumar invited her to his residence and threatened to professionally tarnish her when she resisted his sexual advances. Kumar refuted the allegations. She, however, did not file a complaint then.
