Parents are possibly the most complex relationships we will ever have. The love-and-hate relationship teaches us a lot, and regardless of the many fights we have with our parents, we cannot thank them enough for what they do for us. From providing mental, emotional and financial stability to making us understand the importance of family and a happy life, there is so much that our parents selflessly provide us with. Today marks the celebration of these two very important people in your life. June 1 is observed as Parents’ Day worldwide.

The United Nations established this day to acknowledge “the critical role of parents in the rearing of children, the Global Day of Parents recognizes that the family has the primary responsibility for the nurturing and protection of children. For the full and harmonious development of their personality, children should grow up in a family environment and in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.”

Sachin Tendulkar posted two black-and-white photographs from his younger days featuring himself, his siblings and their parents on Twitter and wished everyone on Parent’s Day. He captioned the image as, “Parents’ love always remains whole no matter how many times it is divided among their children. Forever grateful to my parents for everything they’ve done for me & my siblings.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment also tweeted a montage of SRK’s movies with sweet stills of scenes that features parents. “Going on walks, meeting up with friends, the pandemic robbed them of all the little things that gave them happiness. So, make an effort, have a wholehearted conversation with them and bring out the most beautiful thing in this world – their smiles!” read their tweet.

Dinesh Karthik, shared a family photograph and tweeted, “Personally for me, there couldn’t have been a better day to celebrate this special day.” Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also wished everyone a Happy Parents’ Day and shared a sweet message for everyone.
