Vittar has severed ties with brands that supported the far-right candidate, thus taking a very public stand

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the news, you’ve probably heard about Jair Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro is a 63-year old, far-right, former army captain, with pro-gun, pro-torture and anti-LGBT views and is a strong supporter of dictatorships and militarization.

In a total drama fused election, Bolsonaro won by gaining 55.1% of the votes, while his rival, Fernando Haddad, from the left-wing worker’s party, secured 44.9% votes. After losing, Haddad said that he would work to “defend the freedoms of these 45 million” people who voted for him.

But have you heard about Pabllo Vittar, the 23-year-old drag queen who has sort of become one of the leading voices of resistance against Bolsonaro? According to indy100, Vittar has severed ties with brands that supported the far-right candidate, thus taking a very public stand – something that many others in Brazil’s entertainment circuit have failed to do.

Bolsonaro has made some extremely offensive remarks, including stating that he’d rather have his son die in an accident than find out that he was gay, the news website reports.
