Nita Ambani is now the first Indian to be on the board of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is the largest US art museum. Daniel Brodsky, the MET Chairman said, in a statement that Ambani’s backing “has had an enormous impact on the museum’s ability to study and display art from every corner of the world”.
NDTV reports that the 57-year-old Ambani has been promoting Indian art and culture around the world along with a multitude of sports and development programs. The almost-150-year-old MET has artwork that is about 5,000 years old.
The MET is also famous for the MET gala, which is hosted by fashion and publication icon Anna Wintour. The MET gala hosts a multitude of celebrities and famous personalities who have to dress according to a theme. The theme for last year was camp.
“The MET enables Indian art to be shown at an iconic institution and further encourages us to continue our work in the art world,” Nita Ambani said in a 2017 statement from the museum, reports NDTV.
