Mark Zuckerberg Is Apparently Called Eye Of Sauron By Meta Employees
‘They Say It Lovingly:’ Mark Zuckerberg On Being Nicknamed ‘Eye Of Sauron’ By Meta Employees

We wonder if he’s read the book.

Nicknames are always endearing, or at least that’s what Mark Zuckerberg thinks. The Facebook/Meta CEO recently made an appearance on The Tim Ferriss Show and made a rather interesting revelation.

The billionaire shared the nickname given to him by his employees – The Eye of Sauron. Now, we know how this sounds. However, Zuckerberg continued to insist that his employees refer to him by his nickname “lovingly.”

He said, “Some of the folks I work with at the company — they say this lovingly — but I think that they sometimes refer to my attention as the Eye of Sauron. You have this unending amount of energy to go work on something, and if you point that at any given team, you will just burn them.”

Zuckerberg further explained that the term refers to the amount of energy he has to work on different projects, further adding, “They’re like, ‘You have this unending amount of energy to go work on something. And if you point that at any given team, you will just burn them.”

“I just think the engagement that you get of having, like, an immediate feedback loop around thinking about something and then getting to go talk to the people who are working on this is so much better than going and scheduling a meeting that you’ll have three weeks later.”

During his sit-down interview, Zuckerberg also said that he’s not concerned by any external criticism, with now his main focus being the metaverse, saying “At this point, I kind of feel like if people fully feel like they understand what we are as a company and what we’re doing, then I’m not pushing it hard enough.”

Of course, the internet’s reaction to this piece of news has been…well, you can look for yourself:
