Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon musk has now regained his title of the world’s richest man as his net worth shoots up to $213 billion, putting Jeff Bezos again in the second spot in this race.
About beating rival Bezos to this feat Musk apparently wrote “I’m sending a giant statue of the digit ‘2’ to Jeffrey B., along with a silver medal,” in a short email to Forbes.
The two billionaires have never seemed to share an easy relationship, not refraining from taking public jibes at each other.
Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have often gone back and forth for the topmost spot on the list of the world’s richest.
Their net worths are not the only sore spots between the two. Since Bezos has stepped down from his founding, Amazon, he has had the time to pay attention to his own space venture, Blue Origin. The two are often competitive about matters of space exploration, one trying to best the other.
This latest surge of around $13 billion in net worth of the carmaker came as the share price of his automobile venture saw a rise.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is a daily ranking of the world’s richest people. According to the real-time data of the Bloomberg index, Jeff Bezos has a net worth of $197 billion, followed by Bernard Arnault, the chairman of Louis Vuitton (LVMH) with a net worth of $160 billion. He briefly held the title of the world’s richest man earlier this year, too.
Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates take fourth and fifth place in the index with a net worth of $132 billion and $128 billion respectively.
Bezos made himself the first person to reach the $200 billion milestone in August 2020. Bernard Arnault, the CEO of French luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton, briefly hit that mark more recently.
