47 apps which were clones of the 59 Chinese apps that were banned last month have been banned by the Indian government on Monday.

This decision was taken following a security review taken by the Ministry of Telecom, according to media reports.

Some of the new apps that were banned are TikTok Lite, Helo Lite, ShareIt Lite, Bigo Lite, and VFY Lite which are now unavailable on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

“The apps were found to be operating despite the ban via these versions. They have been taken down from application stores,” a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology official told News18.
