Trump will be launching his own social media app which is being called the TRUTH Social. The former US President said that the app would “stand up to Big Tech” companies, making platforms like Twitter and Facebook its competitors and also the apps that have barred him from their platforms.

TRUTH Social will be devised by a new company, formed by a merger of the Trump Media and Technology Group and a special acquisition company (SPAC). A press release was distributed by both organisations talking in detail about the new venture.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech,” Donald Trump said in a written statement.

TRUTH Social is set for a beta launch next month. A full rollout is expected in the first quarter of 2022. This is the first of three stages in the company’s plans, and will be followed by a subscription video-on-demand service called TMTG+. This service will feature entertainment, news, and podcasts.

Trump Media & Technology Group will be listed on Nasdaq through a merger with Digital World Acquisition. The firm merging with Trump’s company is a blank-check acquisition firm led by former investment banker Patrick Orlando. Trump Media & Technology Group will receive $293 million (roughly Rs. 2,190 crores) in cash that Digital World Acquisition had in trust.
