The state of Goa has partnered up with US-based healthcare data analytics company, Innovaccer, to release the country’s very first digital self-assessment test for COVID-19.
The digital self-assessment tool is called ‘Test Yourself Goa.’ Anyone who takes the test, needs to take a short survey that asks for your name, contact number, location, any recent visit to high-risk countries, present symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, and whether you have any existing health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension and so on.
Once you answer the survey, the self-assessment tool will study your answers and predict the possibility of you contracting coronavirus or not, as per the US CDC’s guidelines. The tool then provides information on self-quarantining as well as helpline numbers to reach out to the concerned authorities.
“We are proud to become the first state in India to adopt technology solutions to tackle Coronavirus. I appeal to all our citizens to make use of the application to the fullest and take necessary safety measures,” said Vishwajit Rane, Minister for Health, Goa.
“We are helping our physicians triage demand during this pandemic with preparedness. I am optimistic that this partnership with the Government of Goa and the COVID-19 Practice Assistant solution will be essential in curbing this outbreak and combating it as one,” said Abhinav Shashank, CEO of Innovaccer.
Even though the result is not medically tested, the tool can help relieve the anxiety surrounding the possibility of being infected by novel coronavirus without having to physically visit a testing facility.
