A luxury car racket being operated from Dubai has been busted by the Delhi Police. The team recovered 21 luxury cars, worth over ₹ 5 crores, and arrested four people.

A car theft case filed by Mohammad Ikhlaque, a resident of Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi led the police to the operation happening miles away. They checked CCTV footage from the area and that helped them get to Abid Amroha, one of the arrested.

Once the stolen car, a Toyota Fortuner, was retrieved, it was decorated with balloons by the police and returned to the rightful owner. Ikhlaque’s four-year-old son, who was quite dejected by the theft, was ecstatic and he thanked the officers, said police officer Abhinendra Jain.

The police have revealed that the others apprehended were Johnson, operating from Manipur; Mohammed Asif from Meerut, and Salman from Indore. The team traced the leader Sharik Hussain, who was managing the racket from Dubai. In 2018, he was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. He moved to Dubai after his release.
