Much to everybody’s surprise (or not), the top five countries for expat workers does not include a single one in North America or Asia. According to a report from HSBC, based on 22,318 responses from expats working in 163 countries, it appears that Europe and the Middle East is the place to go if you’re looking to make a move in your career.

 

The expats were asked about salary prospects, career advancement and development and work/life balance.

 

“The new year can often be a catalyst for considering where you are and where you want to be, particularly when it comes to your career,” said John Goddard, head of HSBC Expat, according to CNBC.

 

“There’s no ‘one size fits all’ but if you’re looking for career inspiration, it may be worth going beyond the borders of your home country to find the place where you can thrive at work,” he added.
