Ashu Jaat, notorious gangster and kingpin of the infamous and dangerous Mirchi Gang was recently arrested by a Hapur police team and the Mumbai crime branch. Ashu Jaat had been allegedly hiding as a fruit seller in Mumbai to avoid arrest.
The gangster had a bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh on his head and has been accused of murdering BJP politician Rakesh Sharma and Gaurav Chandel, an executive from Noida.
One of Uttar Pradesh’s most notorious gangsters, Ashu Jaat is accused in around 40 cases of murder, kidnapping, loot, and theft, according to Mirror Now. He first shot to infamy when news of his alleged connection in the murder of Gaurav Chandel emerged.

Chandel, a regional manager at a company in Gurugram was found dead on the service road between Parthala and Gaur City on January 7 and his car was recovered from Akash Nagar in Ghaziabad, The Times of India reported.
Initially, Jaat’s wife and other gang members were arrested but fearing an encounter, the gangster fled to Mumbai, grew a beard, and began selling fruits, Mirror Now further reports.
Last week, The UP Police got a whiff of his whereabouts when they found out that he had called up an associate in the state and had been hiding in Mumbai. Then, two policemen disguised themselves as vendors and eventually caught Ashu Jaat.
