Arijit Singh may have healed many hearts, but a broken wallet he cannot. Or at least that’s what the internet has been saying about the singer’s latest concert. Singh who has been riding a wave of popularity for a decade now will be performing in Pune’s The Mills this January. Ticket prices for the concert have finally come out, ranging from Rs 999 to a whopping Rs 16 lakh!
Yes, you can either attend an Arijit Singh concert or put a down payment on a house. Considered to be one of India’s richest celebrities (as per a 2019 Forbes list), the singer is offering access to a premium lounge in the arena for a hefty chunk of change. As per a Twitter user, the “Premium Lounge 1” accommodates up to 40 people and serves unlimited food, premium liquor and beer. While we don’t have details on the menu, the same user mentioned that it consists of 3 veg, 3 non-veg starters, 2 veg, 2 non-veg main courses, and 1 international dessert.
Singh has had an extremely successful career so far and is considered to be one of the best singers of all time in the Indian music industry. His fan base while predominantly based in India has also expanded into neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal.
Considered to be the “king of playback singing,” Singh has put out successive hits such as Tum Hi Ho and Chahun Main Ya Naa among many others, since 2013. Singh who first made his debut in 2005 with a reality show called Fame Gurukul has won over six Filmfare Awards and one National award so far.
In the past two years, Singh also became one of the most streamed artists of all time, surpassing the likes of Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and even BTS! He was only surpassed by the names of international heavy-hitters such as Eminem, Justin Bieber, Drake, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran.
While speaking about the artists he follows, Singh in an interview said – “Ustad Amir Khan Sahab, Ustad Rashid Khan Sahab, Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Sahab are the names that come to the top of my mind. In the popular music scenario, I love Kishore Kumar, Hemant Mukherjee, and Lata Mangeshkar. In more recent times I’ve loved Jagjit Singh, and Sonu Nigam – they are my idols. KK, Atif and Papon are my current favourites. From the West – Robin Williams, John Legend and John Mayer.”
