Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan gave an unlikely gift to his fans by making his debut on Instagram, to celebrate his 53rd birthday on Wednesday.

The Dangal star has enjoyed a substantial following on both Facebook (15 million) and Twitter (23 million) before making his bow on the photo-sharing platform. But it took no time for more than 230 thousand fans to take note of his latest tryst with social media.

Mr Perfectionist’s first post was dedicated to a very special person, his mother Zeenat Hussain. Captioning it “The person because of whom I am who I am…” the actor posted a tile of nine images as his baby steps on Instagram.

His Dhoom 3 co-star Katrina Kaif was one of the recent A-listers from B-town to jump on the Instagram bandwagon. She has already clocked close to nine million followers and Aamir looks set to take a leaf from her book.

The duo will next be seen in Thugs of Hindostan, for which they are currently shooting in Rajasthan. Set in the late 18th/early 19th century, the film revolves arounda Thug (also known as Thuggee) called Ameer Ali, whose gang of Thugs posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India (then known as Hindustan or Hindostan). 

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug. It also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in a stellar cast.
