“I don’t think it is wrong at all. Sometimes, your partner is not in the mood for sex, and you need to find a release so as to calm yourself down. It’s actually a good way to prevent actual cheating. If watching porn is akin to cheating, then probably, looking at a travel show together with your partner is akin to a honeymoon,” says Ramesh Thakkar, who invests in the stock market. 

Well, as people who write on sex for a living, we agree. But then, everything about porn is not great for a relationship. If you expect your sex life to be just like it is in porn, then it’s wrong. If you have extremely weird fetishes and fantasies (that your partner doesn’t like), just because you saw them in porn, it’s wrong. If you are watching porn because your sex life is unsatisfactory, then it’s wrong. 

“I personally consider it wrong. It pricks me when my partner talks about his favourite pornstar or closes the door on me after coming back from office. It may not be cheating, but it’s not entirely being loyal either,” says Karishma Joshi, a banking professional. 

Some people have extreme views though. “Yes, watching porn signals that you get aroused by looking at another woman and don’t find your partner perfect in every way. Also, most people don’t tell their partner that they watch porn for fear of pissing them off. It’s not criminal like sleeping with someone else, but it’s a lower form of cheating anyway,” says Juhi Kohli, who works as a documentary filmmaker. 

Then there’s that group of couples who watch porn together. “We love watching porn together, especially before we begin foreplay. It gets us both extremely horny, and is better than eating silly aphrodisiacs. Even when it comes to ideas and creativity while lovemaking, watching artistic erotic videos can be helpful,” says Gaurav Channa, a PR professional.
