While the regular monotony of life blends with the seemingly soulless void of grey and white hues, there has been a visual renaissance of crazy design and cool concepts taking over Instagram and social media. Examples include the Dragons taking over in Dubai (virtually) and artist Chris Labrooy blending himself with a car. To celebrate this trend, we’ve taken a look at five designs that aren’t too loud nor too boring but just the right amount of slick.
Grundtvig’s Church Through The Lens Of Julia Nimke
Berlin-based photographer, Julia Nimke captures the very essence of Grundtvig’s Church in her seven-picture series, invoking a sense of grandeur and melancholy. Similar to another gothic monument in Barcelona, La Sagrada Familia, the original architect of Grundtvig, Peder Vilhelm Jensen Klint, died before its completion.
A Blend Of Man And Machine
Artist and designer Chris Labrooy has crafted a unique way of mending the love between man and machine. In his self-portrait ‘Me, Myself, and I. Self-portrait 2023,’ Labrooy seemingly blends into the silhouette of a Porsche 911, with a pastel background, clothing, and lots of caps.
Stationary Porsches
Monza-based automotive photographer Matt Bortoluzzi captures Stuttgart’s finest (as he puts it) with a stationary lens. His eight-picture series for the Porsche Museum sees the evolution of the iconic brand throughout the annals of history.
Dragons In Dubai
Created by vertex.cgi, this short mixed reality clip gives us a glimpse of what appears to be the next phase of advertisement. Perhaps Daenerys should’ve taken notes?
Apple Helmet
Forget the first-gen iPhone; this throwback from the 80s of racing legend Bobby Rahal shows a rare Apple artefact that could envy any collector. An oval helmet, sponsored by the Cupertino-based tech giant, kept him safe behind the wheel of a Porsche 935 K3. We just hope the visor didn’t have to be bought as an extra accessory.
