The popular Chinese app, TikTok may have fallen out of favour with multiple governments but that hasn’t affected its popularity one bit. Now, the social media network has announced that The Weeknd will host a live virtual concert on TikTok where he’ll perform a variety of tracks from his latest album, After Hours. The concert will take place on August 7.
According to The Verge, The Weeknd will be represented on the platform by a digital avatar in what TikTok says is its “first-ever in-app cross reality experience.”
The Weeknd’s show will also raise money for the Equal Justice Initiative, a charity working to support racial equality. While users will be able to make donations via the app, the social network has said that it will match donations which will be an unnamed “generous amount.”
