Legendary British band Queen’s frontman, Freddie Mercury’s voice is immaculate, unmatched, and one-of-a-kind. There’s no way anyone can match his vocal calibre. But if you’re confident about your singing skills, then YouTube Music has a special challenge for you.

YouTube, Google Creative Lab, and Google Research have partnered up with Queen, Universal Music Group and Hollywood Records, to build a new AI experiment called FreddieMeter. FreddieMeter allows fans to sing one of four Queen songs (Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now, Somebody to Love or We Are the Champions) to determine how well their voice matches to the legendary singer. It analyses the singer’s pitch, timbre, and melody to score you between 0 to 100.

FreddieMeter was created by using new on-device machine learning models that were trained by providing Freddie’s isolated vocals as well as samples of people trying to sing like Freddie. It was created in support of the Mercury Phoenix Trust to raise awareness and funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS, as well as to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the band’s first-ever live performance of Bohemian Rhapsody at the Empire Theater in Liverpool.
