Whatsapp has added another layer of security for its iOS users. Now, you can lock the app with support for biometric authentication, this allows users to lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID.
You can avail this feature by updating to the recent version 2.19.20. Although, this security feature does not work to personal conversations.
Besides, users can access and quick reply to messages from notifications or answer calls even if the app is locked. But, if you want to access the app you will have to complete the authentication process.
As per the rumour mill, Android users may have a similar authentication layer in the near future.
Recently, Mark Zuckerberg made news when he mentioned merging Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram to create a safer experience. And, people have mixed feelings about this move.
Here’s how to enable this feature:
Click on ‘Settings’ > ‘Account’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Screen Lock.’ Now, toggle on ‘Face ID’ or ‘Touch ID.’ Once toggled on, you can choose to activate authentication requirement- immediately, after a minute, after 15 minutes or after an hour.
And, if your iPhone fails to recognize your face or fingerprint you can choose to enter your phone’s Passcode to open WhatsApp.
