After conquering the rap game and the entertainment industry, Snoop Dogg is headed to conquer the gaming world. The OG rapper will soon feature as a playable character in Season 3 of Call of Duty: Mobile. 

But here’s the catch. You can only access him via a special lucky draw, which will take place on April 1st, 2022. In case you do win it, the CoD version of Snoop will be all decked up in 24K gold embroidered outfit, and carry a fast-firing Legendary SMG, which of course, will also be gold-plated. That’s not it, the D-O-Double-G’s weapon art will be akin to “lights of a mini-concert” when you fire it. 

Additionally, the rapper will also feature as an “Operator Bundle” in Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone, which is a separate entity from the mobile game. But this got us thinking, what are some of the other memorable celebrity appearances that have made their way to your monitor screens? Here’s our list.

1) Keanu Reeves (Cyberpunk 2077)

The hype for Cyberpunk 2077 only doubled when Keanu Reeves surprised us at E3 2019. The Matrix and John Wick star portray the role of a rock musician named Johnny Silverhand, who only appears in a holographic form. Without getting into the spoiler territory, let’s just say it all very “breathtaking.”

2) Jeffrey Wright (The Last Of Us Part II)

Considering Naughty Dog games are known to employ some serious drama into their games, this was a match made in heaven. Before he was voicing Marvel’s What If series or policing the streets of Gotham, Jeffery Wright featured in one of the best games of the decades – The Last of Us Part II. If you’re not familiar with the actor’s work, you may find him a bit trickier to spot. He plays the role of Isaac Dixon, leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and one of the antagonists of Abby’s story. 

3) Rami Malek (Until Dawn)

In 2015, along with his breakout performance in Mr Robot, Rami Malek also starred in an adaptive horror game called Until Dawn. Here he played Josh, who invites eight of his friends to a lodge on Blackwood Mountain. Stuff happens and all of them end up being trapped there until dawn. Along with Malek, the game also featured notable names such as Jordan Fisher (tick, tick…BOOM!), Hayden Panetierre (Heroes) and Nichole Sakura (Shameless, Super Store).

4) Norman Reedus (Death Stranding)

After Konami prematurely cancelled the highly-anticipated Silent Hill game, the legendary game designer Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus headed to Sony to work on a “mysterious project.” After years of speculations, the duo came up with Death Stranding, a post-apocalyptic game set in the United States. Here Reedus plays Sam, a porter, who is tasked with delivering important packages and reconnecting the whole country with itself. Be warned though, you may either love Death Stranding or absolutely hate it. But we do recommend checking it out yourself. 

Also starring in the game are some big names like Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and director Guillermo del Toro.

5) Giancarlo Esposito (Far Cry 6)

If there’s one role Giancarlo Esposito can play to perfection, it is the role of a stone-cold villain. This is exactly what the folks at Ubisoft must’ve thought when they cast him as “El Presidente” Antón Castillo, who governs the island of Yara with an iron first. While the reviews of the game have been a mixed bag, it is worth checking out for Esposito’s performance alone. 

6) Kit Harington (Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare)

Snoop Dogg isn’t the only famous face to appear in the CoD universe. Back in 2016, Kit Harrington starred as the main antagonist in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, who is set on taking over the entire solar system. Playing as Salen Kotch, let’s just say he does know a thing or two in this universe. 

7) ​​Jesse Williams (Detroit: Become Human)

When it was announced Detroit: Become Human was expected to be one of the most revolutionary games of our times. While the end result may have disappointed some, Williams’s performance as Markus, an android accused of murder is something to look out for. But there’s a lot more to Detroit: Become Human, rather a murder mystery. Without spoiling anything, it deals with many parallel themes of our society today. Do check it out. It does warrant a place in your game library.
