There’s a new FIFA rival in town, and no we’re not talking about PES (now called eFootball). Called UFL, the free-to-play football simulator just dropped its teaser recently, and it features a host of star power including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Developed by Strikerz Inc, UFL is built on Epic Studio’s Unreal Engine. As per the developers, the game has been in development for six years, and will arrive later in 2022 “when it’s ready.”

Just like FIFA, UFL will include both ranked and unranked modes, with an option for offline play. Additionally, it’ll also support 2v2 and 3v3 matches, along with “special events.” However, the main focus here will be on UFL’s global online league, where players will be allowed to create their own division-based team and play with opponents of a similar skill level.

Each division will be linked by promotions, with the season taking place over a full year. At the end of the season, a single player will be crowned as the UFL champion.

So far, the studio has managed to rope in Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelo Lukaku, Roberto Firmino, and Oleksandr Zinchenko as UFL’s ambassadors. Some of the official teams on the roster include West Ham United, Sporting CP, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, Beşiktaş, Monaco, Celtic, Rangers, and Hashtag United.
