Brands are stealing the thunder from tipsters. Even as India is all set to welcome the OnePlus 9RT on January 14, 2022, the focus has shifted to the brand’s big reveal – it’s first flagship for 2022. OnePlus has opted to release titbits of information and multiple sneak peeks as it builds momentum towards the launch. The OnePlus 10 Pro is all set to be unveiled on January 11, 2022 with a global rollout scheduled soon after. We don’t have an official date for the India launch yet but the appearance of the first images on the OnePlus India website suggests that the India debut can’t be too far away. Here are five features we’re excited about:

Two colourways and a stunning design: Mirrored ceramic and matte frosted glass come together to lend the 10 Pro a premium vibe. The images reveal a device that looks every inch a flagship. There are two striking colourways. Volcanic black inspired by sand dunes under a moonlit sky with special micro-crystals. This is an interesting play on a staid black smartphone. It’s the Emerald Forest colour option that has our attention. We also dig the rear cam cutaway and alignment of the lenses.

The Hasselblad rear camera: We noticed a discernible upgrade in the OnePlus 9 Pro camera last year as OnePlus began a partnership with iconic Swedish brand Hasselblad. The partnership with this company continues with the OnePlus 10 Pro. The Hasselblad logo is part of the rear cam, the 10 Pro has been co-developed with this iconic brand with a 180-year heritage. The triple rear sensor set up includes a 48MP primary cam, a 50MP ultra-wide cam and 8MP telephoto cam with dual OIS. A 32MP selfie shooter completes the camera set up.

Gorgeous display: It’s a large phone (dimensions – 163 x 73.9 x 8.55mm) and features a 120Hz, 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display. If last year’s immersive displays are anything to go by, expect another ultrasmooth display that will be great for gaming or Netflix.

Raw power: The device will be powered by a best of breed Snapdragon Gen 1 SoC based on a 4nm process. OnePlus hasn’t revealed the exact hardware variants or pricing but we could see 8/12 GB of RAM with 128 and 256GB internal storage.

Energizer Bunny: A heavy duty 5000 mAh battery will back the ultra-fast processor and vibrant display. Interestingly the OnePlus Warp charging tech has made way for OPPO’s ‘SuperVOOC’ branding. Expect super quick charging speeds with an 80W SuperVOOC charger and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging.

The OnePlus 10 Pro is kitted to do battle in the Android flagship space with premium devices like Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S22 devices. We can’t wait to see this slugfest playout during the first quarter of the year.
