Super-Size Me: iPhone 14 Plus

It’s been a while since we’ve seen an iPhone ‘Plus’ device. The iPhone 14 Plus is surprisingly light despite its immersive 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display. It’s not just almost 20 per cent lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, it’s also marginally lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro that sports a 6.1-inch display. The other big win is battery performance — the best on any iPhone thus far. It’s powered by the same A15 Bionic processor as last year’s iPhone 13 quartet — it’s all the firepower you need, even if you are a heavy-duty gamer. Apple has tweaked the aperture in the primary 12MP cam for improved camera performance, especially in lowlight mode. There’s also an Action mode to capture all your outdoor action moments.

Sharp Shooter: Google Pixel 7 Pro

You have to go back to 2018 and the Pixel 3 for the last time Google launched a flagship device in India. The Google Pixel 7 Pro is well worth the wait and comes in a cool hazel shade where green meets grey. It looks every inch premium with a shiny, polished aluminium chassis crafted with 100 per cent recycled content. The 7 Pro boasts of a gorgeous 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate that peaks at 1500 nits. At its heart is Google’s own Tensor G2 — a 4nm chipset with 2 Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A76 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores. But it’s the triple rear camera that is the 7 Pro’s calling card with a 48MP telephoto and a whole bunch of computational photography tricks.

Ear Candy: Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is among the best Bluetooth TWS earbuds you can buy right now. It looks good too, especially in the unique bora purple variant that stands out in the crowd. Samsung opts for a matte finish with an improved design. These buds are 15 per cent smaller than the Buds Pro and come with a vent on the inside of each earbud to help relieve pressure. The slinkier form also means that the Buds 2 Pro is more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Call quality is great, battery life (23 hours with the case) is dependable and there are useful features like wireless charging. But it’s the acoustic experience that sets these buds apart. You can also experience an immersive 24-bit Hi-Fi audio experience if you own a Samsung smartphone.

Go QLED: Blaupunkt Google QLED TV

You don’t have to break the bank for the new Blaupunkt Google QLED TV that comes in a choice of three sizes — 50, 55 and 65 inches and vivid colours. QLED TVs boast of a quantum (Hence the Q) dot layer that allows them to produce a wider range of colours and deliver better picture quality than a conventional LED TV. We dig the metallic strip at the bottom end of the TV that creates a nice contrast to the all-black, bezel-less frame of the TV. The big surprise here is the acoustics. This TV includes a 60-watt Dolby stereo box speaker with four installed speakers, and DTS TruSurround sound technology with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Digital Plus.

Lenovo is pitching its new tab, Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen) as the ideal work + play companion. We dig the unique dual-tone design with a glass-like finish; it weighs just 480 grams. The 11.2-inch cinematic OLED display (2560 x 1536 pixels) comes with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 600 nits. The display also supports HDR10+ that adds to its binge-watch appeal. At its heart is an octa-core MediaTek Kompanio 1300T chipset that is complemented by 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. You can add the ThinkPad-inspired detachable keyboard with a built-in trackpad and the Lenovo Precision Pen 3 to maximise the productivity of this device.

The 10.61-inch display (2000 x 1200 pixels / 220 PPI) on the Redmi Tab is one of its headline features. It features a 90Hz refresh rate and maxes out at 400 nits. The other useful add-on is the 8MP selfie cam offering a wide-angle 105-degree field of view that is handy for video calls. The tab also benefits from MIUI that we first experienced on the Xiaomi Pad 5, which has some useful features like multi-windows and spilt screen. At 465 gm, it’s quite light to hold for long periods of time, whether you’re reading or gaming. Redmi offers three hardware variants that all support external storage devices up to 1TB.
