According to Statista, the global foldable smartphone market is poised to soar from $5.5 billion in 2020 to $105.3 billion in 2025. These numbers are just one part of the story. Consumer adoption of foldable smartphones is seeing an uptrend as more ‘future first’ consumers are discovering a whole new set of user experiences. Samsung has been one of the first movers in this space and has garnered a significant share. But that might change with other brands jumping into the fray. OPPO’s Find N2 Flip is one such device that we’re excited about. This flip device is all set to take on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4. Does it merit your consideration?
Premium vibe
First impressions are the key. When I first unboxed the Find N2 Flip I felt I was holding something futuristic. That’s the thing with any foldable phone that is done right. We dig the bold and large rear camera module and the massive cover screen that is a big part of OPPO’s pitch for the N2 Flip. We checked out the Moonlit Purple Colour option, the device looks chic in this cool shade of purple. OPPO tell us that the Find N2 uses the company’s next gen Flexion Hinge that has a significant impact on the heft of the device. The lighter weight hinge has allowed OPPO to pack a larger battery (4300 mAh) under the hood.
Ironed out
One of the biggest differentiators of the Find N2 is its unique hinge that ensure the radius of the fold is not too tight. OPPO has rated the hinge and screen for 400,000 folds. That’s more than you’re ever likely to fold and unfold this phone. The crease is less visible than the competition. It’s not completely invisible but it’s certainly less obvious than older foldables. The good thing is this crease is only visible at extreme angles and doesn’t hinder your overall experience.
Solid hardware
None of the existing foldable smartphones are at the pinnacle of smartphone photography. That’s one reason we had fairly realistic expectations on the camera performance. The Find N2 Flip is certainly not in the league of stellar camera phones but should please most users looking for a foldable. The 50MP primary lens impressed us with its overall performance across scenarios while the images on the ultra-wide camera were average. The 32MP front camera shoots sharp selfies. The large 3.26-inch cover display is a handy accessory while you use the camera. The Find N2 is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ processor and combines 256GB of Internal storage and 8GB of RAM. It’s a solid hardware package backed by a robust 4300 mAh battery. The device clocked a respectable score of 3374 in our Geekbench (multi-core) test.
An impressive debut
There’s a lot to like about OPPO’s first foldable flip phone for the Indian market. Our favourite feature aside from the crease-free design are the two displays. The 3.26-inch cover display makes a big impact while the 6.8-inch main display with a 120Hz refresh rate peaks at 1600 nits. OPPO offers four years of Android updates and five years of security updates. The Find N2 Flip also scores on battery life that has traditionally been a weak link for foldable flip phones. If you’re in the market for a foldable smartphone, OPPO’s Find N2 Flip deserves to be on your list.
The OPPO N2 Flip comes in Astral Black and Moonlit Purple. Its costs Rs 89,999.
