We’re currently being bombarded with amazing phones — OnePlus 7, Samsung S10, etc. That also means price reductions on earlier flagship phones and the one we’re focussing on is the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
Is this phone still a good buy in 2019? Let’s analyse it by breaking it down category-wise:
Performance
The Note 8 runs on a Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 8895 Octa-core Processor, has 6 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage that is expandable upto 256 GB. Performance is great on this phone. Gaming, watching videos and surfing the web are all smooth.
Display
It comes with a beautiful 6.3-inch bezel-less AMOLED display with Gorilla 5 protection. The AMOLED screen delivers crisp and vivid colours. It is easily still one of the best-looking screens in the business.
Interface
The ONE UI update with Android’s latest OS is here for the Note 8 and it is amazing. One thing that would have earlier caused a bit of hesitation was the fact if Samsung would release ONE UI for the Note 8 and fortunately, they did. The interface works perfectly and is much more user-friendly now.
Camera
This might be an area the Note 8 takes a stumble on. The 12 + 12 MP Dual Rear Cameras and 8MP front cameras might not match up with the newer iPhones and Pixels out there, but this doesn’t mean it’s bad. The camera is still beautiful and clicks good quality pictures. Video calls also look great on this phone.
Pricing
The Note 8 is now available for Rs 36,990 which isn’t too heavy on your pocket for a device of this standard.
Additional Pros
Wireless charging
3.5 mm jack present
Dual-sim support
S-pen
CONS
Poor battery life
Impractical fingerprint sensor placement
All in all, the Note 8 comes pumped with features that are still relevant today. You can get a flagship device for a good price point and we definitely recommend the Note 8.
