It is common knowledge that Fortnite and soccer have an interesting association, and it looks like that this association has strengthened. In a series of tweets, Epic Games, the studio behind Fortnite, hinted towards a possible collaboration with football superstar Neymar Jr.

Although not much has been revealed about the collaboration, it appears that a Neymar skin will soon make its way into the battle royale game. According to The Verge, fans have speculated that Neymar’s iconic #10 jersey number will be highlighted as based on Neymar’s own Twitter reactions indicating clues of the worlds colliding.

Details about how exactly he will appear in Fortnite is not clear as of now, but as Engadget points out, it’s coming at the same time the Zero Crisis Finale single-player mission— which is the focus of the video teaser— launches. Neymar himself hasn’t played in a soccer (or football, take your pick) game since being injured several months ago.

Live events in Fortnite have proven hugely popular, with a 2019 concert by Marshmello drawing 10 million people, which was a record event for the game at the time, and a performance last year by Travis Scott, which also took place inside of Fortnite, drew more than 12 million people. In January, developer Epic Games pledged $20 million for esports in Fortnite in 2021.

Fortnite has partnered with soccer clubs for specific team skins in the past, however, Neymar Jr. is the first individual soccer player to receive his own skin. The Brazilian soccer player is expected to make his way to Fortnite on March 16.
