What You Need To Know About The New Apple iPad

The 6th generation of the tablet features a 9.7-inch screen and support for Apple Pencil

The new version of the iPad goes on sale in India today. Designed to focus on ‘education and creativity’, the tablet will be available in silver, space gray, and a new gold finish. It will have a starting price of Rs 28,000 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model, Rs. 38,600 for the 32GB Wi-Fi and cellular model, Rs. 35,700 for 128GB Wi-Fi and Rs. 46,300 for the 128GB Wi-Fi and cellular model. 

 

The 9.7-inch retina display boasts 264 ppi, and the whole device weighs less than 500 grams. Apple claims that the A10 Fusion fourth-generation chip with a M10 coprocessor gives the tablet the processing power to smoothly run augmented reality applications. 

 

The biggest change from previous iterations is the support for Apple Pencil, which was only supported by the iPad Pro range till now. Apple Pencil, which needs to be bought separately at the price of Rs. 7,600, can be used for writing notes, sketching, and a host of other functions for third-party applications on the App Store. 

 

The camera on the new iPad is 8 megapixels, with a f/2.4 aperture which gives it high performance in low light conditions. It also comes with Live Photos, auto-focus, and the ability to record 1080p HD video. You can also record slow-motion video of at 120 frames per second in 720p resolution. 

 

The Smart Covers for the new iPad cost Rs. 3,400, and come in charcoal grey, midnight blue, red, white, and pink sand.
