Your monthly ‘how to spend it’ guide to all the cool new gadgets
Racing yellow: Realme’s new flagship, the Realme GT 5G, is powered by the best of breed Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor. It comes in a bunch of funky colours, including a Racing Yellow finished in a unique dual tone vegan leather finish. It’s designed to feel good in your hand, weighing under 190gm. The rear cam includes a 64MP primary lens and a new multi-frame algorithm that delivers better ‘noise’ control, especially in low light. Other highlights include a 120Hz Super AMOLED display and a massive 4500 mAh battery, backed by a 65W fast charger with Realme’s SuperDart technology. Rs 37,999
Unwired for sound: The stabiliser arc — a tiny extension of the earbud that keeps the bud securely in your ear — is one of the many practical design touches in the Google Pixel Buds A-Series earbuds. These buds come with three pairs of silicon tips in the box for the perfect ear fit and ear seal to shut out external sounds; they’re also comfortable to wear for long periods of time. These TWS Bluetooth buds deliver 24 hours of battery life (including the case); a 15-minute charge gives you about three hours of listening time. These buds are kitted with 12mm dynamic drivers; sound quality is quite impressive for the price, especially with Bass boost mode activated. Rs 9,999
Mini me: Apple’s iPad Mini has almost been unrivalled in the small tab segment. The Mini gets a complete makeover with a new 8.3-inch display that shaves off the bezels and maintains its compact footprint despite a larger display. Just like last year’s iPad Air, Touch ID is now added to the power key, making it easy to unlock. At its heart is the same A15 Bionic chip that powers the new iPhone 13 quartet. The camera gets an overhaul, but it’s the USB-C port and support for the latest Apple Pencil that has our attention. Rs 46,900 onwards
Flagship class: The Apple iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are both propelled by the A15 Bionic chip that boasts of a new 6-core CPU, with two new high-performance cores and four new high-efficiency cores. The Notch that houses the selfie cam is narrower, giving you extra screen real estate. But the feature we’re most excited about is the new pro-motion display with an adaptive frame rate that goes all the way up to 120Hz, adding extra fluidity to the iOS experience. The adaptive frame rate also optimises battery life, both the 13 and 13 Pro promise an improved battery life over its predecessors. These devices also become the first iPhones with a 1TB internal storage variant. Rs 1,19,900 onwards
The theatre comes home: The BenQ V6000, makes a strong case for an ultra-short throw projector. The V6000, for instance requires, barely 22 cm from the wall for a massive 100-inch image. The obvious benefit is seamless integration into your living spaces. Set up is simple, BenQ throws in an ALR screen (100 or 120-inch) and an all-new 32GB Apple TV as part of the standard bundle. The projector features an elegant design language; our favourite design element is a sunroof style sliding cover that protects the light source from dust when the projector is not in use. The V6000 delivers true 4K UHD picture quality (3840×2160 resolution and 8.3 million pixels), and offers 98 per cent DCI-P3 Colour Gamut, which brings out true cinematic colours, Rs 4,99,000
