In the sea of the latest tech launches coming our way this October, Dyson brought something rather interesting to our shores yesterday. The British brand launched its first-ever set of headphones, called the Dyson Zone noise-cancellation headphones. Available in two trims, the base model retails for Rs 59,900, while the Zone Absolute + variant will cost Rs 64,900, which comes with additional filters and a couple of more goodies.
So, what do you get for your buck? Starting with the obvious, the pair comes with a unique magnetically detachable visor that pumps purified air into the wearer’s mouth and nose. The filters are placed inside the earcups, along with the compressor, which can be operated via the press of a button. There’s also an accompanying app alongside the headphones that lets you monitor your location’s noise and air pollution levels.
Coming to the headphones themselves, the Dyson Zone features active noise cancellation, with a claimed 50 hours of playback time. It boasts eight microphones along with two additional ones just for phone and transparency functionality. While the transparency function works through a double tap feature, the volume and track selection controls are done via the pressable joystick found on the back of headphones.
Commenting on the launch, Joe Staniforth, Head of the Wearables category at Dyson, said: “At Dyson, we always start with the problem. And as engineers, we’re not afraid to do things differently. With the Dyson Zone™️ noise-cancelling headphones, we have taken a uniquely Dyson approach to audio engineering to tackle the issue of noise pollution head-on. Incorporating science and relentless testing, the Dyson Zone headphones have been engineered to actively monitor and combat city noise while ensuring an uninterrupted, immersive listening experience through high fidelity and low-distortion audio.”
We’ll be putting the pair through an extensive test in our comprehensive review. Stay tuned for the same!
