After a long wait of six years, Capcom has finally announced Street Fighter 6. While we don’t have a release date yet, the company put up a teaser trailer of Street Fighter 6, revealing a beefed-up Ryu getting ready to fight Luke.
The iconic series which will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year has enjoyed a roaring success since its inception, and has a cult following. However, the last game in the series Street Fighter 5, was met with a lukewarm response due to bugs and server issues.
It eventually did find success, thanks in large part to the subsequent Champion and Arcade editions, selling six million copies. For the sixth game in the franchise, Capcom will be collaborating with Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono, who left the company back in 2020.
While the teaser trailer doesn’t shed any light on gameplay mechanics or plot, it does seem to hint at a more realistic character style. Capcom also confirmed that more information on the game will be coming this summer. So don’t hold your breath for a 2022 release.
In addition to the much-awaited Street Fighter 6, the developer also announced 10 new fighting games for the PS4, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. These include titles like Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition.
As expected, fans of the genre have are thrilled:
