On February 17, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the men's cricket team's jersey for the Champions Trophy 2025. The announcement featured captain Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, power-hitter Hardik Pandya, and emerging pacer Arshdeep Singh modelling the new kit, sparking significant enthusiasm among fans. The right side of the jersey have the word ‘Pakistan’ engraved on it, since they are hosting the tournament. India, however, will play their matches in the UAE. The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, will kickstart their journey with a clash against Bangladesh, on February 20.
Unlike the bilateral series where the name of the leading sponsor Dream 11 is at the front, jerseys in the Champions Trophy will only have the country's name there. As per the mandates, commercial logos can not be displayed on the front of the kits in ICC tournaments, but it can be printed on the sleeves. Therefore, India's jersey that was revealed yesterday has their leading sponsor Dream 11 and kit sponsor Adidas on either sleeve. Let's take a look at how much these sponsors will pay BCCI for the tournament.
How Much Will Dream 11 & Adidas Pay the Indian Cricket Team In Champions Trophy?
How Much Does Dream 11 Pay the Indian Cricket Team?
In 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced Dream11, India's largest fantasy sports gaming platform, as the lead sponsor for the Indian cricket team over the next three years. The sponsorship deal is valued at ₹358 crore (approximately $43.7 million), equating to ₹3 crore per bilateral match and ₹1 crore for overseas games. This new deal was valued at much lower than the previous sponsorship by Edtech giant Byju, which had paid ₹5.07 crore per domestic match and ₹1.7 crore for ICC tournaments, as reported by The Economic Times.
But for ICC events such as the Champions Trophy, Dream 11 pays a reduced amount of ₹1 crore to the BCCI, since their logo is relegated from the front of the jersey to the sleeve.
How Much Does Adidas Pay The Indian Cricket Team?
In May 2023, the BCCI signed a five-year deal with the German sportswear giant Adidas as the main kit sponsor of the Indian cricket team. Since Nike left in 2020, the Indian cricket team had quite a few kit sponsors like MPL and Killer Jeans, but they were unable to popularise the jersey among the masses. Adidas, meanwhile, changed the game with its strategic pricing and capitalised on the popularity of the home World Cup. They pay ₹75 lakh per match to the BCCI, irrespective of the format or event.
