Manchester City football club’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has reaffirmed his commitment to the team, despite enduring a challenging period of four consecutive losses—a first in his illustrious coaching career. The 53-year-old Spaniard, who took the helm at Man City in 2016, has inked a lucrative two-year contract extension, meaning he'll stay at the club till 2027. 

"I felt I could not leave now. Maybe the four defeats was why," Guardiola told Manchester City's website. "I think we deserve, after four defeats in a row, to bounce back and try to turn the situation. I think we deserve to be here. I am not arrogant to say, but it's the truth. This is my ninth season here. We have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club". 

Guardiola's decision to stay at the Etihad Stadium comes on the heels of a string of disappointing results against top-flight opponents such as Tottenham, Brighton, Sporting, and Bournemouth. Since he arrived at the club, Guardiola has amassed an impressive collection of silverware, including a staggering six Premier League titles and one Champions League crown. By extending his tenure at City, Guardiola has set his sights on more domestic success with the club. He's also the longest-serving manager in the Premier League. 

How Much Does Pep Guardiola Earn at Manchester City 

Manchester City have not disclosed the amount they will be paying Guardiola for his new contract. But the Spaniard, as per his previous deal inked in 2022, was taking home $25.4m per season. This is a significant increase from what Guardiola's successor Manuel Pellegrini was earning. Guardiola's salary as a manager is the highest in the Premier League, and second only to Diego Simeone in the world.
