There’s no stage too big for Cristiano Ronaldo. And he proved it yet again by scoring a goal of the season contender in Real Madrid’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League quarter final first leg win over Juventus Tuesday night.
The former Manchester United man was being booed by a section of home fans at Turin before he scored the spectacular 63rd-minute overhead kick. He was immediately acknowledged by the local crowd, who rose up to applaud the goal.
Cristiano scored his 118th (a third minute opener) and 119th goals in the game, strengthening his place as the all-time leading goal-scorer in the competition. He extended his scoring streak in the ongoing edition of the UCL to 10 games, the highest ever.
Moreover, the Portuguese skipper also assisted the final goal of the evening as he let Marcelo on the goal to all but seal the result of the quarter final. Juve finished the evening with 10 men as Paulo Dybala was sent off after a second yellow in the second half.
Real go into the second leg at Bernabéu with an almost unassailable trio of away goals. The 12-time winners have emerged as strong contenders for taking home the trophy a record third time this season. If this performance is any indication of things to come.
