Italy won the game by beating Spain 4-2 on penalties after the teams were tied at one each after ninety minutes and even after Extra time. The game started in favour of Spain, as their quickfire and liquid football kept Italy at bay and created many chances for their strikers and attackers to finish off. The midfield for Spain was their best department as the Barcelona duo of Sergio Busquets and Pedri, along with Koke, dominated the ball and kept hold of possession for most of the time. This Spain team was showing class all-round the pitch, and it was just the conversion of those great chances that were lacking. In the second half, Italy scored off a counter-attack which was against the run of play. This forced Luis Enrique, Spain’s manager, to make the change and introduce Alvaro Morata. That proved to be the game-changer for both sides. Alvaro Morata scored the equalizer for Spain after a brilliant passing game with Dani Olmo. The game went onto penalties as first kicks for both the teams were saved by the keepers. Morata turned out to be the villain for Spain in the shootout as he missed his penalty, and Jorginho scored the all decisive penalty to take Italy to the final of the Euros.

People on Twitter were full of praise and remorse for Spain, and it was a loss that would be too hard to take considering they were the dominant side over the 120 minutes. Morata had already answered his haters well, but he shouldn’t be disappointed about his performance after this miss. For Italy, they can win the Euros against the winner of the second semi-final between England and Denmark. It would be one exciting game to watch today as hosts England face underdogs and everyone’s favourite Denmark.
