Carlo Ancelotti is one of the most decorated managers of all time and has managed clubs in almost all the top leagues in the world. His achievements speak for him, and he is a proven winner as a manager. Ancelotti is back at Real Madrid and amongst the big dogs of the world. He couldn’t refuse the job offer from such a big club and is destined to take this Real Madrid side to new heights. We look at the different things that Real Madrid fans would be expecting of Don Carlo.
1) Will Sergio Ramos and other big stars stay?
Real Madrid is always known to be a team full of stars all around the pitch. In his last stint, he had Di Maria, Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Pepe. They were the best that would ever grace the football pitch. However, a lot has changed since Ancelotti left in 2015. They don’t have Cristiano, Ramos might be going, Gareth Bale’s form and reputation has dipped massively. Therefore, the first task for Ancelotti would be to sit down with the board and Sergio Ramos, captain of the current Real Madrid team, and work out a positive solution in favor of all the parties involved. A big name like Ramos shouldn’t leave when he has played and given 16 glorious years to this club, and indeed, this is the ending neither the fans nor the club indeed asks for.
2) The “Hazard” problem
Eden Hazard was signed for a whopping hundred and three million euros from Chelsea in 2019. He was known as the successor of Cristiano Ronaldo and was even given the iconic number seven jersey. However, the movie certainly hasn’t paid dividends for both player and club. Hazard has been injured for more than 70% of the Real Madrid matches since joining the club. His injuries have escalated from minor hamstrings to significant knee surgeries. This is the problem Don Carlo needs to solve as soon as possible and find a solution as to whether he should stay at the club or leave the club for a good amount of money.
3) New Signings
Whenever he joins a new club, every Manager dreams of new marquee signings and building an unbeatable squad. Carlo Ancelotti has a knack for spending money wisely on players that are needed for the club. He also thinks about how much time it will take for the player to create an impact over the team and over the matches to come. Since it’s Ancelotti’s job to start this Real Madrid rebuild, he would have a lot of money to spend on key players. Fans would be hoping to see players join the club, and only the players that are no longer required leave the club.
4) Getting back the Spanish throne
Real Madrid finished runners-up this season to their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, and finished just two points behind them in a tight title race. Even though they were in the title race, they didn’t look all that convincing in the end and had to blame themselves for the title loss. If Real Madrid can win the La Liga next season after such a torrid time in the past few months, it would surely be a sign of beautiful things to come under Ancelotti. They would be looking to the throne and outclass their Spanish counterparts and win the title again.
5) Return of the Champions League
Real Madrid is the most successful side in the history of the Uefa Champions League. They had won the crown a record thirteen times since its inception and became the first club ever to win a hat-trick of titles when they won it from 2016-2018. Since then, they have only managed to reach the semi-finals once and got crushed by Chelsea then. They need to do a lot of thinking and analysing how they can win the coveted title again and put Real Madrid back amongst the best. Carlo Ancelotti was the one who brought them the La Decima title and would be looking to win more of it with the club.
Real Madrid has undoubtedly made the right and bold move of bringing back Carlo Ancelotti. So naturally, fans and the club would be hoping to deliver for them like he did last time. However, it remains to be seen if he can live up to the expectations and hype that has been created.
