When Virat Kohli is on the pitch, you’re bound to get some hits. The man has given people what they want almost every time, and usually, Virat Kohli centuries are what people want.
Apart from being aggressive in his cricketing style and leading the Indian team to victory multiple times, Virat Kohli is also an individual force of his own. If you believe in testing a cricketer by his numbers, then you’ll be interested in what Kohli has to offer in terms of that. The Indian skipper has played 174 IPL matches in total, has a batting average of 38.2 and has scored a total of 5348 runs in his IPL history. Even though Kohli has been part of the IPL league for a while now, the cricketer has only managed to score 5 centuries in total. It might seem like much, but not a lot of IPL captains have been able to achieve this.
Here we take a look back at all the five marvellous Virat Kohli centuries he scored during IPL matches:
5.) 100 Against Kolkata Knight Riders
Staring with the most recent one, Kohli scored a perfect century in just 58 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in April 2019. This was a particularly important century as this helped RCB win the match against KKR. Kohli scored 9 boundaries and 4 sixes which helped him achieve this century.
4.) 100 Against Gujarat Lions
Opening the first inning alongside Shane Watson, Kohli’s 11 boundaries and one sixer helped him mark his first century in the IPL league. Even though he helped RCB rack up a score of 180, Gujarat Lions were able to chase it and eventually won the match. Kohli was awarded the “Man of the Match” award for his brilliant performance.
3.) 108 Against Rising Pune Supergiants
After Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) made an impressive score of 191 runs in the first inning, the RCB boys had a challenge in front of them. But Kohli came onto the pitch and showed off what brilliant form he was in. He hit up a score of 108 from 58 deliveries, including 8 boundaries and 7 sixes.
2.) 109 Against Gujarat Lions
This was Kohli’s third century ever in his IPL career. RCB was up against Gujarat Lions (GL) this time and after winning the toss, GL decided to let RCB bat first. They lost Gayle early in the match, but AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli made up for it by lighting up Chinnaswamy stadium with sixes and fours. Kohli smashed 5 fours and 8 sixes from 55 balls and marked his third century of 109 in the tournament.
1.) 113 Against Kings XI Punjab
RCB had to win this match if they wanted to make it to the playoffs. But it wasn’t easy. In fact, this must have been Kohli’s toughest century he ever had to get, but it is also the highest score he’s ever made in the tournament. Not only did the stubborn rains make it tougher to play, Kohli suffered from split webbing and played with seven stitches. He slammed 12 fours and 8 sixes and eventually led RCB to a comfortable victory.
