The striker, who moved to Barcelona last year, is likely to return back to the Premier League

Four hooded burglars stormed into the home of Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and robbed him at gunpoint, and also assaulted his wife Alysha Behague. The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning, as reported by the Spanish daily El Pais.

The robbers entered the home through the garden and assaulted the Gabonese striker in front of his family for resisting. They stole jewelry from the safe, before fleeing away from the scene in a white Audi A3.

This is the second incident of burgling in Aubameyang’s home in the last couple of months. The duo has alerted the police authority. A few days go, his colleague Robert Lewandowski was robbed of a £59,000 watch while signing an autograph outside the club’s stadium. As per local media, the thief entered his car and took the watch, while Lewandowski was busy with the fans.

Earlier this season, Samu Castillejo’s house was also robbed while he was playing his debut game for Valencia. This has become a common phenomenon in Spain, and the police recently busted a local gang that used to break into the footballer’s homes when they were away for the game. Casemiro, Coutinho, Gerard Pique, and Jordi Alba have also been on the receiving end.

The striker, who moved to Barcelona last year, is likely to return back to the Premier League, and this time for his former club’s arch-rival Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea is in dire need of a striker, and they are relentlessly pursuing Aubameyang as a short-term option. Meanwhile, Barcelona wants to offload him to make way for other signings before the transfer window closes down.

Xavi overlooked Aubameyang for the game against Real Valladolid and hinted that he may on be the way out from Barcelona. “There is a market that ends on August 31 and we will see what will happen. I am counting on him and tomorrow it could be important, but we will see the circumstances,” Xavi said.

“We are going to assess. Neither Auba nor Memphis has come out and tomorrow we will be able to use them. We have to see how the squad turns out. The priority is to sign up Kounde,” he added.
