Paul Pogba, current France and Juventus midfielder, recently made a startling revelation about the £11 million blackmail plot set up against him by his childhood friends and elder brother Mathias Pogba.
Mathias came up on Instagram and threatened to reveal “explosive information” about his brother Paul and PSG striker Kylian Mbappe. He also mentioned Paul’s current agent Rafaela Pimenta in the video, questioning her character and integrity.
“The whole world deserves to know certain things so the public can decide if [Paul Pogba] really deserves the admiration, the respect, his place in the France team, if he is a trustful person and worth representing the world’s youth, working-class areas and big brands,” Mathias Pogba said on Instagram Live.
Mathias lost his employment recently after his contract was prematurely terminated by the fourth-tier French club Belfort. He was also seen with Paul after the latter led France to the World Cup title four years ago.
Paul Pogba stated that the group has accused him of not helping them financially ever since he became a prominent footballer. They are demanding £11 million for “protection services”. He also added that he always offered financial support until he fell out with one of his friends who was caught stealing £170,000 from his house in Manchester.
“The recent declarations of Mathias Pogba on social media are unfortunately not a surprise. They are coming after threats and attempts of extortion by an organised gang against Paul Pogba,” read the statement from the ex-Manchester United star.
“The competent bodies in Italy and France were informed a month ago and there will be no further comments in relation to the ongoing investigation.”
Soon after Paul made an official statement, his brother Mathias hit back at him for lying. “You left me in the hole, while running away and you want to play the innocent. When all is said people will see that there is no bigger coward, bigger traitor and bigger hypocrite than you on this earth,” Mathias added.
Paul Pogba left Manchester United this summer on a free transfer to rejoin Juventus, but he has been ruled out for two months due to an injury. Later this year he’ll lead France’s World Cup title defence in Qatar.
