Novak Djokovic's Wife Dismisses Claims Of Him Being An 'Anti-Vax Posterboy'
Novak Djokovic’s Wife Defends Him Against ‘Anti-Vax Posterboy’ Label By Journalist

Djokovic might have played his last grand slams of the year.

In all certainty, Wimbledon will prove to be Novak Djokovic’s last major of the year, as he is not allowed to enter the USA as per their current rules.

Jelena Djokovic, the wife of Novak Djokovic, was involved in a heated exchange with tennis podcaster Ben Rothenberg, who labeled the Serbian as ‘anti-vax poster boy’ soon after he won his 21st grand slam.

Djokovic was deported just ahead of the Australian Open due to his unvaccinated status and was also banned for the next three years. But he has stood firm on his decision to remain unvaccinated, even if it means missing some of the most prestigious tennis tournaments.

In all certainty, Wimbledon will prove to be his last major of the year, as he is not allowed to enter USA as per their current rules. On being asked about the prospect of playing at the US Open, Djokovic said, “I’m not vaccinated and I’m not planning to get vaccinated so the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter United States or exemption.”

“Unless there is a swift change in US immigration law, #Wimbledon will be Djokovic’s last Grand Slam event of the year,” Rothenberg wrote. “US requires vaccination for foreigners to enter, and Djokovic has firmly said he has ruled out getting vaccinated, entrenching himself as an anti-vax poster boy.”

Jelena was quick to take note and wrote, “Excuse me,” she replied. “Just making sure that it is noted that YOU tagged him as antivax poster boy for whatever reason you have. He simply responded what HIS body choice is.”

“You are creating a very judgmental narrative that fits your agenda. He is simply choosing what’s best for his body. If he is not playing because of making that choice, he is fine with it,” she added.

While Djokovic’s stand against vaccination is well known, Jelena too was criticised last year for promoting the hoax theory. She’d posted a video on Instagram, wherein the emergence of COVID-19 was directly linked to 5G technology.
