FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr. once formed the holy trinity of football. The three were an absolutely brutal set when they came onto the field. But in 2017, Neymar Jr. moved to PSG in a world record €222 million transfer. This year, Luis Suarez moved on to Atletico Madrid, and now, all three players are part of separate teams. Having a team made up of these three star players once again seems like a distant dream, but not an impossible one. Since Neymar is definitely open to the idea of reuniting with Messi as soon as next season.
The PSG forward told ESPN he wants to play with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi again next season. When asked about Messi joining him in Paris, Neymar said, “What I want most of all is to play with Messi again, to be able to enjoy him once again on the pitch.”
“He can play in my place, I have no problem with that! But I want to play with him next year, for sure. We have to do it next season.”

Messi will be free to discuss transfers with other clubs from January, 2021, and will most likely end his contract with FCB next summer.
According to reports, Manchester City was the top team in the race to acquire Messi. PSG was also in the running. Coach Thomas Tuchel had also said that the Argentine would be “very welcome” in Paris.
Last month, his teammate Luis Suarez also expressed interest to get Messi to Atletico, but will still happily support his friend’s decision to move to another team if he chooses to.
“I’ll always say it: Leo is mature enough to make the decisions he needs to make by himself. I’ll never try to influence what he does; wherever he’s happy, I’ll always support his right to make the decision that’s best for him,” Suarez told AS.
“If at any point the possibility arises, then he should say so as obviously I’m going to talk very highly of him to the club.
“But as far as suggesting things to him is concerned, I think he’s the one who has to make such decisions and wherever he’s happiest is the best place for him to be.”
