Brazil and PSG striker Neymar splurged €160,000 to emerge as the highest bidder at an auction event organised by his colleague Idrissa Gueye in Paris. The event was attended by several of the PSG stars, including Mbappe, whose departure from the club is now imminent. With the PSG contract set to expire on 30 June, Mbappe is making the most out of his last few days in Paris before he reportedly departs for Madrid.

On Wednesday night, Mbappe was involved in a bidding war with Neymar. Both of them share a very cordial relationship with each other but there have been some reports of a rift between them after Lionel Messi’s arrival. Both Mbappe and PSG, however, have rubbished the claim. A couple of days ago, both strikers were seen posing with David Beckham in Qatar.

Neymar ultimately prevailed in the auction, securing a football that was used for the final of the 2021 African Nation Cups, between Egypt and Senegal. In the final, Gueye’s team stunned everyone by beating Mohamed Salah-led Egypt to claim their first Afcon title.

The proceedings will go to the Hope Association for the treatment of children in the African continent suffering from cancer and HIV. Last year, Gueye raised funds for providing baby cots and other essential items to a nursery in Senegal.

“It was an incredible moment of sharing, rich in emotions. We then went to the villages of Ngelou where we spoke with the inhabitants, with the aim of making several adjustments. We will continue to do everything to make your daily life more enjoyable. Stay tuned,” wrote Gueye on Instagram.

Neymar has always been at the forefront in extending his allegiance to charitable causes. Last year, when the pandemic was at its peak, he donated a combined total of $1 to UNICEF and a charitable fund launched by his friend.
