Mumbai Indians React As Riley Meredith Loses Out On A Free iPad From Jasprit Bumrah

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, registered their first victory of the season after defeating Rajasthan Royals by five wickets

After testing different combinations, Mumbai Indians seem to have solved the fast bowling conundrum. In absence of Adam Milne, who was ruled out of the season due to injury, the franchise struggled to find a perfect complement to their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. As a result, Bumrah’s own efficacy took a hit, as he was unable to find constant support from the other end.

In the past, Bumrah had the supporting cast of Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, and Trent Boult. This season, they tried Daniel Sams, Basil Thampi, and Tymal Mills, but it didn’t work out.

In the last match, the franchise paired him with Australian pacer Riley Meredith, and this helped Mumbai break their losing streak of eight games. The duo enjoyed bowling in tandem, and restricted Rajasthan to a below-par total.

In the video posted by Mumbai Indians, Meredith was heard saying that Bumrah promised him an iPad if he nailed the yorker. Bumrah was surprised by Meredith’s claim, and said that he doesn’t remember any such promises. The Indian pacer, however, agreed to the demand.

The Tasmanian tried his best but could only manage a low full toss, which was driven over his head by the batter. Jasprit Bumrah promptly replied “No iPad.”

Meredith was acquired by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1 crore. Last year, he bagged a contract worth Rs 8 crore for Punjab Kings, but didn’t live up to the expectations. Later on, he pulled out his name from the second half of the tournament due to personal reasons.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, registered their first victory of the season after defeating Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in Match 44 of the IPL 2022. Meredith bowled a frugal spell and picked up two crucial wickets in death overs. Mumbai’s next game is against table-toppers Gujarat Titans, set to be played at Brabourne Stadium on May 6th.
