Barcelona thrashed Athletic Bilbao by a goal margin of 4-0 in the final of Copa de Rey. After the second-half, the match turned pretty one-sided for Barcelona, as Messi scored two goals back-to-back to put his team in the advantage in the final game. Barcelona was looking at their first trophy in two years.

These two sides have previously played in a Spanish Super Cup in January, which was won by the Athletic Bilbao in extra time. Coming into this final, Barcelona was looking to avenge its defeat.
Barcelona was very dominant in the first half of the game, but they were not able to find past the athletic goalkeeper, Unai Simon. Both the teams were nil on the scoreboard till the first half.
But during the second half, floodgates opened for Barcelona as they scored four goals in just a span of 12 minutes. The French footballer, Antoine Griezmann, scored the opener for his team on the hour-mark, tapping home from a Frenkie de Jong cross.
The Dutchman scored his second goal of the match just after the gap of three minutes, providing a comfortable lead for Barcelona. This doesn’t stop here, as De Jong, along with Lionel Messi, scored an incredible goal for the team. It didn’t take Messi long enough to score his second, and the fourth for his team in just under four minutes.
Athletic Bilbao was unable to score any till the last whistle, which gave Barcelona the victory that they were looking for in the final game of the tournament.
Messi, with the help of his two goals in the final match, took his tournament goal tally to 31. He has now scored more than 30 goals in all the seasons back-to-back. “Incredible final, Perfect game,” FC Barcelona tweeted after the match.
