After spending just two-and-a-half years at Manchester United, Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club on Tuesday.
According to a report by BBC, Manchester United decided to take the decision after identifying and cataloguing his failures in the club as a manager. MU fans have been frustrated and disappointed after their club’s poor performance and the fact that they are 19-points lower than Liverpool. The club has seen absolutely no improvements and signs of progress even after spending nearly £400m on 11 players.
Former captain, Gary Nevill spoke to Sky Sports and said, “it’s about making sure the next manager is the right manager. The reality of that is they’re going to have to put the right football structure in around him,” he said.
Reportedly, Mourinho wanted to have his own structure, but the new manager that will be appointed will have a head of football above him who will report to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
A statement by United read: “The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
The candidate for the new manager will be appointed from outside the club and they are reportedly hoping to appoint a caretaker-manager before they face Cardiff City on 22 December.
