Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the finest footballers in the world despite being deep into his thirties. So far this season, he has already scored 19 goals in just 18 appearances for Juventus across formats. Still in the physical capacity to compete with the emerging superstars of world football, Ronaldo seems to be capable enough to continue at this level for a few more years.
The Portuguese striker has been in such a spectacular form for the Old Lady during the current campaign, almost averaging one goal per match in all competitions. Therefore, Juventus would be reluctant to allow their most decisive player to leave once his contract expires in June 2022 – even though he’ll be 37 at the time.

According to Juve FC, after the closure of the January transfer market, the Juventus directors are now ready to shift their attention towards internal matters. Although several players are running on soon-to-be-expiring contracts, Fabio Paratici and company will be naturally focusing on the CR7 matter more than anything else.
According to Il Messaggero, Juventus is hoping to extend Ronaldo’s stay beyond his fourth season at the club, but his immense wages remain a problem.
In the current economical crisis, it would be almost impossible for the Old Lady to offer the former Real Madrid star 31 million euros per season – which he currently earns – beyond 2022. Thus, according to Juve FC, there’s a high probability that the Juventus forward may be offered a new contract with wages below the current figures.
As per a report in Calciomercato, the talks over Ronaldo extending his stay for another year in Turin have already begun. According to the publication, Ronaldo has opened the contract talks with Juve. He is in talks through his agent Mendes and through a direct relationship with the club.
It remains to be seen whether the Real Madrid star would be willing to accept an offer below his current wages. Other clubs could try to pounce on the opportunity and offer the Portuguese legend an immense contract in order to lure him away from Turin.
After the Portuguese superstar’s contract at Juventus ultimately ends, the USA’s Major League Soccer could also be the next destination for him.
