In match number 10 of IPL 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by a massive 38 runs in a high scoring encounter between the two. AB de Villiers was awarded with the Player of the Match trophy for his match changing 76 runs off just 34 balls.

RCB won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the team were off to a slow start, and lost two quick wickets. Devdutt Padikkal scored a slow 25 runs off 28 balls, making sure that Glenn Maxwell from the other end fired the big shots. Maxwell played a super innings of 78 runs off 49 balls with the help of his three sixes and nine fours.

 

De Villiers came towards the end of the innings and played some of his classic shots. He also smashed three sixes and nine fours on his way of 76 not out. Varun Chakravarthy was the only bowler from KKR who showed some content in his bowling performance and took two wickets. Pat Cummins and Prasidh Krishna chipped in with a wicket each in their four-over quota.

 

Chasing the difficult score of 204 runs, Shubman Gill scored a quickie 21 off nine balls, giving his team the dream start that they required. After his departure, the wickets kept falling at a regular interval and none of the KKR batsmen were able to register any partnerships.

 

Kyle Jamieson took three wickets for 41 runs. Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled brilliantly and grabbed a couple of wickets each. Sundar chipped in with a wicket and conceded 33 runs.

 

With this win, RCB hold their strong grip at the top of the table, winning all the three of its match played till now. Meanwhile, KKR’s bad performance dropped them down to the sixth place in the league table. Patel has become the tournaments leading wicket taker with nine wickets in his bag. Virat Kohli seemed to be happy with his team’s performance in this year’s IPL.
